Active editing wants fast storage so high-resolution footage plays back smoothly, which is why editors use SSDs or fast arrays for current projects. Completed work moves to large, cheaper storage for medium-term access. RAID Is Not a Backup

This rule directly addresses everything RAID misses. For footage that cannot be re-shot, a wedding, a documentary, once-in-a-lifetime events, following 3-2-1 is the difference between a scare and a tragedy. The off-site copy, increasingly the cloud, is the part people most often skip and most need.
