Why BCS Beats Breed Weight Charts
The 9-point BCS scale is a standard veterinary tool for assessing body fat independent of breed-specific weight charts, since ideal weight varies enormously across breeds - a BCS of 4-5 out of 9 is generally considered ideal for most dogs and cats regardless of breed.
