Album Royalty Split Calculator
Album Royalty Split Calculator
Splitting a royalty payment three ways? This calculator breaks down a total payout between artist, producer, and label based on agreed percentages.
Each Share = Total Royalty x (Party Percentage / 100)
Example
$10,000 total royalty, split 70% artist / 20% producer / 10% label:
Artist: $7,000.00, Producer: $2,000.00, Label: $1,000.00
Why Splits Vary So Widely
Royalty structures differ enormously between major label deals, independent distribution, and self-released music - "producer points" (a percentage the producer negotiates directly from an artist's royalty share) are common in some genres but rare in others, and label splits depend heavily on the specific recording contract signed.
Illustration Only, Not Legal or Financial Advice
This tool is meant purely to illustrate how a percentage-based split works arithmetically - actual royalty agreements involve recoupment of advances, mechanical vs. performance royalty distinctions, and other contractual details that a music attorney or accountant should review directly.
