Gas Flow Calculator

Gas Flow Calculator: Volumetric Flow From Velocity and Area

Volumetric flow rate is one of the most basic and useful quantities in combustion and ductwork design, connecting how fast gas moves to how much of it passes a given cross-section per second. This calculator computes it directly from average velocity and cross-sectional area.

The Formula

Q = Velocity × Area

Worked Example

Gas moves at 15 m/s through a duct with a 0.2 m² cross-section.

Q = 15 × 0.2 = 3.0 m3/s

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the average gas velocity in m/s.
  2. Enter the duct or pipe cross-sectional area in m².
  3. Click Calculate to get the volumetric flow rate.
