CPC Calculator
One Number, Three Ways to Get There
Cost per click is the price of a single visitor arriving through a paid ad, but in practice you rarely have all three variables — cost, clicks, and CPC — sitting in front of you at once. Sometimes a platform reports total spend and clicks and you need the effective CPC; other times you're planning a budget and need to work forward from a target CPC to a spend cap. This calculator solves in whichever direction the data you have points.
The Formula
CPC = Total Cost / Total Clicks
Total Cost = CPC × Total Clicks
Total Clicks = Total Cost / CPC
Total Cost = CPC × Total Clicks
Total Clicks = Total Cost / CPC
Where This Calculation Matters
- Comparing platforms or campaigns — a campaign with a lower CPC isn't automatically cheaper overall if it also converts at a lower rate, but CPC is the starting point for that comparison.
- Setting a maximum bid — working backward from an acceptable CPA and conversion rate gives a ceiling CPC bid to set in a platform's bidding interface.
- Forecasting traffic from a budget — given a fixed budget and an expected CPC, the find-clicks mode estimates how much traffic that budget will buy.
- Auditing a bill — dividing a reported invoice total by reported clicks is a quick check that a platform's billed CPC matches what was agreed.
