Dental Implant Cost Calculator

An Implant Is Rarely Just the Implant

The headline price quoted for a dental implant usually covers only the titanium post itself. Getting to a finished, functional tooth typically adds a crown on top, and sometimes a bone graft beforehand if there isn't enough jawbone density to anchor the implant securely. Adding those pieces together, then subtracting whatever a dental insurance plan covers, gives a much more realistic picture of the total than the implant price alone.

The Formula

Subtotal = (Implants × Cost per Implant) + Bone Graft Total + Crown Total
Out-of-Pocket = Subtotal − (Subtotal × Insurance Coverage %)

This calculator adds a flat estimate of $400 per implant for a bone graft when needed, and $1,200 per implant for a crown when included, on top of the implant cost you enter.

Where This Matters

  • Treatment planning — getting a full-picture cost estimate before committing to implant treatment, rather than just the per-implant fee.
  • Insurance comparison — seeing how different coverage percentages change the out-of-pocket total.
  • Multi-tooth cases — scaling the estimate across several implants at once for a full-arch or multi-tooth restoration.

Worked Example

One implant at $2,000, with bone graft and crown included
Line itemCost
Implant$2,000.00
Bone graft$400.00
Crown$1,200.00
Subtotal$3,600.00
Out-of-pocket at 0% insurance coverage$3,600.00
Out-of-pocket at 50% insurance coverage$1,800.00
