Filling Cost Scales With Both Location and Surface Count
Not all fillings are equal in cost: a posterior (back) tooth filling generally runs higher than an anterior (front) tooth filling due to the material and technique involved, and every additional tooth surface the filling covers — beyond the first — adds incremental material and chair time. This calculator combines both factors into a single estimate.
The Formula
Subtotal = Base Cost (by location) + (Extra Surfaces × $55)
Out-of-Pocket = Subtotal − (Subtotal × Insurance Coverage %)
Out-of-Pocket = Subtotal − (Subtotal × Insurance Coverage %)
Base cost covers the first surface; every surface beyond the first adds a flat $55.
