The pattern generalizes: a warning sign, tolerated once because nothing bad immediately happened, becomes easier to tolerate the next time, and easier still after that, until the abnormal is fully normalized and the accumulated risk finally comes due all at once.

Why Tracking the Trend Beats Tracking the Deadline
