Milestone Slippage Calculator
Milestone Slippage Calculator
Catching small schedule drift early is far easier than fixing a major deadline crisis later - this calculator tracks milestone slippage over time.
Slippage = Current Projected Day - Original Planned Day
Example
A milestone originally planned for project day 90, now projected for day 105:
Slippage = 105 - 90 = Slipped by 15 days
Why Tracking Slippage Over Time Matters
Tracking milestone slippage at every status update (not just checking whether the final deadline was hit) is a key early-warning practice - a milestone that slips by a small amount on each successive update is a common pattern that precedes much larger schedule problems later in the project.
A Negative Number Is Good News
A negative slippage value means the milestone is currently projected ahead of its original schedule - worth noting, but also worth double-checking that the original estimate wasn't simply overly conservative in the first place.
