Your Share% = (Your Contribution / Total Pool Contribution) x 100
Your Share Amount = Jackpot x (Your Contribution / Total Pool Contribution)
Example
A $1,000,000 jackpot, your $20 contribution out of $200 total pool contribution:
Your Share = (20/200) x 100 = 10% → $100,000
Document Your Pool in Writing
Lottery office pools should always be documented in writing before purchasing tickets - specifying exactly who contributed how much, which numbers were played, and how winnings will be split. Undocumented informal pools are a well-known source of disputes, and even lawsuits, when a pool actually wins a significant prize.
Proportional vs. Equal Split
This calculator assumes a proportional split based on contribution amount, which is the fairest and most common approach - some pools instead agree to a simple equal split among all members regardless of individual contribution size, so make sure your pool's agreed method is clear to everyone before playing.
