Raffle odds are refreshingly straightforward compared to most lottery games - your win probability is simply your proportional share of all tickets sold.
Win Probability% = (Your Tickets / Total Tickets Sold) x 100
Odds Against = (Total Tickets - Your Tickets) / Your Tickets
Example
5 tickets out of 500 total sold:
Win Probability = (5/500) x 100 = 1.0% (odds of 99:1 against)
Why Raffles Work Differently Than Lottery Games
Unlike combination-based lottery games (where your specific number combination must match exactly one drawn combination out of astronomically many possibilities), a single-prize raffle simply draws one ticket at random from all those sold - buying more tickets directly and proportionally increases your win probability at a 1:1 rate, a much more intuitive relationship than combination-based lottery odds.
Practical Use
This straightforward math makes it easy to decide how many raffle tickets are worth buying relative to the prize value and your personal risk tolerance - simply multiply the number of tickets you're considering by the base per-ticket probability to see your resulting odds at that spending level.
