Shared Jackpot Probability Calculator
Shared Jackpot Probability Calculator
Winning the lottery doesn't always mean winning the full jackpot - if multiple people picked the exact same numbers, the prize gets split evenly among all of them. This calculator shows your resulting share.
Your Share% = (1 / Number of Winning Tickets Sold) x 100
Example
If you're one of 3 tickets that matched the winning numbers:
Your Share = (1/3) x 100 = 33.33% of the jackpot
Why Splits Happen More Often Than Random Chance Suggests
Many players disproportionately choose numbers 1-31 (corresponding to birthdates), significant dates, or popular "lucky" numbers - causing those specific number combinations to be overrepresented among tickets sold, well beyond what pure random selection would predict.
A Real Strategy (For Split Avoidance, Not Win Odds)
This is exactly why some experienced players deliberately choose higher numbers less commonly picked by others - not to improve their odds of winning at all (which are mathematically identical for every possible combination), but specifically to reduce the odds of having to split the jackpot with other winners in the event they do win.
