Total Elevator Time = Number of Trips x Round-Trip Time Per Trip
Example
15 elevator trips needed, each averaging 8 minutes round-trip:
Total Time = 15 x 8 = 120 minutes (2.0 hours)
Why Elevator Moves Take So Much Longer
Only one elevator load can move at a time, unlike a truck ramp where multiple people can carry items simultaneously in parallel - waiting for elevator availability (especially in buildings with limited elevators or heavy regular traffic), loading and unloading time, and travel time between floors all compound across the many trips a full move typically requires.
