A mover's final invoice rarely comes from a single line item. It's a base service fee, a distance charge, a weight or volume charge, and a labor charge, all stacked on top of each other — and each one moves independently depending on how far you're going, how much you own, and how long loading and unloading takes. Breaking the estimate into these four pieces makes it possible to see exactly where the money goes before a mover shows up.

Local moves typically skip the per-mile charge entirely and price mostly on labor and load size, while long-distance moves shift most of the cost onto distance and weight — the same formula produces very different cost structures depending on which inputs are actually nonzero.
