Camera Battery Shots Remaining Calculator

Camera Battery Shots Remaining Calculator

Wondering if your battery will make it through the rest of a shoot? This calculator estimates remaining shots based on current battery level.

Estimated Shots Remaining = Rated Shots Per Full Charge x (Battery % / 100)

Example

65% battery remaining, camera rated for 900 shots per full CIPA charge:

Estimated Shots = 900 x 0.65 = ~585 shots

What CIPA Ratings Actually Measure

CIPA (Camera and Imaging Products Association) shot-count ratings come from standardized lab testing that includes flash use on roughly half of test shots, along with periodic zooming and screen review between shots - real-world habits that differ from this test protocol will produce different actual results.

Why Real-World Counts Often Differ

Shooting mostly in good light without flash commonly yields meaningfully more shots than the CIPA rating suggests, while cold weather, heavy video recording, or constant image review on the rear screen can noticeably reduce actual battery life below this estimate.
