Real-World Relevance
High BAF values are common for persistent, fat-soluble pollutants like heavy metals, certain pesticides (DDT being the classic historical example), and industrial chemicals that organisms absorb faster than they can excrete or metabolize - these substances can reach tissue concentrations far higher than their environmental concentration would suggest, which is why BAF is a standard screening metric in environmental risk assessment.
