A renewable scholarship's GPA requirement is almost always cumulative, which means a single rough semester doesn't just hurt that term's grades — it raises the bar for every semester that follows. Knowing exactly what GPA is needed next term to keep a scholarship intact, rather than discovering the shortfall after grades post, gives a student a real chance to plan around it. This calculator runs that forward-looking math directly.
The Formula
If not yet eligible:
Needed Semester GPA = (Min GPA × Total Credits − Current GPA × Current Credits) / Next Semester Credits
If cumulative GPA already meets the minimum, the scholarship is renewal-eligible outright. If not, the calculator works out exactly what GPA the next semester alone needs to produce, given the credits already completed and the credits planned for next term, to bring the cumulative average up to the required minimum.

In this example, the required semester GPA is mathematically impossible in a single term — a useful early warning that recovery will take more than one semester of strong grades.
