Combustion Efficiency Loss Calculator: Build Efficiency From Its Loss Components
Rather than measuring combustion efficiency directly, engineers often build it up from its individual loss components: heat carried away in the flue gas (stack loss), unburned fuel losses, and radiation/convection losses from the equipment casing. This calculator sums those losses to determine overall efficiency.
The Formula
Total Loss% = Stack Loss% + Unburned Loss% + Radiation Loss%, Efficiency% = 100 − Total Loss%
Worked Example
A system has 12% stack loss, 1% unburned fuel loss, and 2% radiation loss.
Total Loss = 12 + 1 + 2 = 15%, Efficiency = 100 − 15 = 85%
