A parlay multiplies individual odds together, which multiplies potential payout - but it also compounds risk, since every single leg must win for the parlay to pay out anything at all.
Worked example
For a 3-leg parlay with decimal odds of 1.91, 2.10, and 1.75, staking $100:
Combined Odds = 1.91 x 2.10 x 1.75 = 7.0193
Total Payout = 100 x 7.0193 = 701.93 total payout (601.93 profit)
This is exactly why parlays carry a significantly higher combined house edge than placing the same bets individually - the attractive-looking payout multiplier comes paired with a much lower overall probability of winning the full combination.
