RTP Is a Long-Run Average, Not a Per-Spin Guarantee
Return to Player (RTP) is a percentage published or estimated for a slot machine, describing what fraction of total money wagered is returned to players on average over a very large number of spins. It says nothing about any individual session — a machine with 96% RTP can still produce a losing streak or a large single win — but it directly determines the statistical house edge and expected loss over volume.

The gap between an 85% RTP machine and a 98% RTP machine is $130 in expected loss per $1,000 wagered — RTP differences that look small in percentage terms compound significantly over volume.

- Understanding volatility versus RTP — two machines with identical RTP can have very different volatility (how spread out individual outcomes are), which RTP alone doesn't describe.
