The same $100 wagered carries a very different expected cost depending purely on which game it is spent on — blackjack with correct basic strategy minimizes but does not eliminate the house's edge, while roulette's edge is fixed regardless of strategy since every bet type on the wheel carries the same built-in disadvantage from the two zero pockets.

One caveat on "Return to Player": a 95% RTP slot machine has a 5% house edge measured over a very large number of spins — any individual session can still swing far from that long-run average in either direction.
