eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score) Calculator

eNPS adapts the well-known customer-facing Net Promoter Score methodology to employees, based on how likely they'd be to recommend their employer as a place to work on a 0-10 scale.

eNPS = %Promoters - %Detractors

Response Categories

ScoreCategory
9-10Promoters (highly engaged advocates)
7-8Passives (satisfied but unenthusiastic)
0-6Detractors (actively unhappy)

Example

50 promoters, 30 passives, 20 detractors (100 total respondents):

Promoters = 50%, Detractors = 20% → eNPS = 50 - 20 = 30 (good employee engagement)

Why Passives Get Ignored in the Final Score

Unlike a simple average satisfaction score, eNPS deliberately excludes passives from its final calculation, focusing attention specifically on the gap between genuinely enthusiastic advocates and genuinely unhappy detractors - the logic being that passives, while not actively harmful, also aren't driving meaningful positive word-of-mouth or referrals the way true promoters do.
