Gas Expansion Calculator: Track Volume Changes With Temperature and Pressure

Combustion gases expand significantly as they heat up and change pressure while moving through ducts, stacks, and heat exchangers. This calculator applies the combined gas law to compute the new volume of a fixed quantity of gas after both pressure and temperature change.

The Formula

V2 = V1 × (P1/P2) × (T2/T1)

Worked Example

A gas parcel starts at 10 m³, 200 kPa, and 300 K, then moves to 100 kPa and 350 K.

V2 = 10 × (200/100) × (350/300) = 23.33 m³
