Shower Water Usage Calculator

Shower Water Usage Calculator: See Where the Water Goes

Shower length is one of the biggest levers in household water use, and it's easy to underestimate how much a longer shower adds up to over a week. This calculator converts your shower duration and showerhead flow rate into actual liters used.

The Formula

Liters per Shower = Shower Minutes × Flow Rate, Liters per Week = Liters per Shower × Showers per Week

Worked Example

An 8-minute shower with a 9.5 L/min low-flow showerhead, showering 7 times a week.

Liters per Shower = 8 × 9.5 = 76 L, Liters per Week = 76 × 7 = 532 L

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter your typical shower duration in minutes.
  2. Optionally adjust your showerhead's flow rate (9.5 L/min is a common low-flow standard).
  3. Enter your showers per week.
  4. Click Calculate to get water usage per shower and per week.
