Why Loans Are Deliberately Excluded

Net price specifically excludes loans from the "aid" subtracted from Cost of Attendance, since loans must be repaid with interest and aren't truly free aid reducing your cost - including loans in this calculation would understate a family's real financial obligation.

Net Price Is the Fairest Way to Compare Schools

Comparing schools by net price - rather than sticker-price tuition, or a total aid package that blends grants with loans - gives the most honest, comparable picture of actual out-of-pocket cost across different institutions with very different published tuition rates.
