RPM Revenue Calculator
RPM Works in Both Directions
RPM — revenue per mille, or revenue per 1,000 views — is usually treated as an input you plug in to estimate earnings. But it's just as often the number you're trying to find: given a payout you've already received and the views that generated it, working backward reveals your actual RPM, which is far more useful for forecasting than an assumed industry average. This calculator handles both directions.
The Formulas
Solve for RPM: RPM = (Total Earnings ÷ Total Views) × 1000
Solve for Earnings: Earnings = (Views ÷ 1000) × RPM
Solve for Earnings: Earnings = (Views ÷ 1000) × RPM
Where This Matters
- Auditing a payout — after receiving an ad or platform payment, solving for RPM tells you your actual rate rather than an assumed default.
- Comparing periods or content types — computing RPM separately for different months or video categories reveals which content actually monetizes best.
- Forecasting a future payout — once you know your real RPM, the Solve for Earnings mode projects revenue from an upcoming view estimate.
Worked Examples
| Mode | Inputs | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Solve for RPM | $850.00 earnings from 170,000 views | $5.0000 RPM |
| Solve for Earnings | 170,000 views at $5.00 RPM | $850.00 |
