Worked example
For 9 outs (a classic flush draw) with 47 unseen cards and 2 cards still to come:
Exact Probability = 34.97% (rule of thumb estimate: ~36%)
This matches the famous, widely cited "flush draw is roughly 35%" reference figure exactly - the rule of 4 (9 outs x 4 = 36%) lands impressively close to the exact math, which is exactly why it remains a trusted quick estimate at the table when there's no time for exact combinatorics.
