Energy Content Calculator

The Total Energy in a Given Fuel Quantity

Rather than a rate, this calculates the absolute total chemical energy stored in a specific fuel quantity — useful for comparing tank contents, delivery loads, or storage capacity across different fuels.

The Formula

Energy Content = Fuel Mass × Heating Value

Worked Example

A 500 kg delivery of fuel with a heating value of 42 MJ/kg:

Energy Content = 500 × 42 = 21,000 MJ

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the Fuel Mass.
  2. Enter the fuel's Heating Value in MJ/kg.
  3. Select Calculate to get total energy content.
