Recruitment Funnel Drop-off Calculator
Recruitment Funnel Drop-off Calculator
Where exactly are candidates dropping out of your hiring process? This calculator quantifies drop-off between any two consecutive funnel stages.
Drop-off % = ((Stage 1 Count - Stage 2 Count) / Stage 1 Count) x 100
Example
200 applicants at Stage 1, only 40 advancing to Stage 2:
Drop-off = 160 candidates → 80.0% drop-off
Running This Across the Entire Funnel
Running this same calculation between every consecutive pair of stages - applied → screened → interviewed → offered → accepted - reveals exactly where candidates are being lost at the highest rate, rather than only looking at the overall applied-to-hired conversion rate.
Not All Drop-off Is a Problem
A high drop-off rate between "applied" and "screened" is often expected and healthy, reflecting effective initial filtering - a surprisingly high drop-off rate later in the funnel (like between "interviewed" and "offered," or worse, "offered" and "accepted") is generally the more concerning signal worth investigating first.
