Traffic Growth Rate Calculator

Measuring traffic trends correctly

A single traffic number in isolation says little - tracking the percentage change between two comparable periods reveals whether SEO efforts are actually moving the needle, and by how much.

Worked example

For 12,000 sessions this period versus 10,000 sessions in the previous period:

Growth Rate = ((12000 - 10000) / 10000) x 100 = 20.0% change

Frequently asked questions

Should I compare month-over-month or year-over-year? Year-over-year comparisons are generally more reliable for organic traffic, since they naturally account for seasonal search patterns (holiday shopping spikes, back-to-school searches, etc.) that can make short-term month-to-month swings misleading on their own.

What counts as healthy organic growth? This varies enormously by industry, site age, and starting traffic level - established sites with mature content often see modest single-digit to low double-digit percentage growth, while newer sites in growth phases can see much larger percentage swings in either direction.
