Print Material Density Calculator
Using density to verify filament material
Every plastic has a characteristic density, and measuring a printed sample's mass against its volume is a quick way to sanity-check that a spool is what its label claims, or to identify an unlabeled filament.
Common filament densities

Worked example
A solid printed cube sample weighs 12.4g and measures 10cm³ in volume (calculated from its dimensions, accounting for infill if not solid):
Density = 12.4 / 10 = 1.24 g/cm³
This result matches PLA closely, confirming the spool's labeled material.
