Filament Spool Remaining Calculator
The most reliable way to check remaining filament
Slicer filament estimates can drift over time, especially after failed prints, purge lines, or filament changes that were not tracked. Weighing the spool directly sidesteps all of that guesswork.
How to check
- Find the empty spool weight, usually printed on the spool itself or the original packaging (commonly 190-250g for standard 1kg spools, varies by brand).
- Weigh the spool with the remaining filament on a kitchen scale.
- Enter the full filament weight when new (typically 1000g for a "1kg" spool, though actual net weight varies slightly by brand).
- Enter both weights below to get the remaining percentage and grams.
Worked example
A spool that started as 1000g of filament on a 200g empty spool now weighs 800g total:
Remaining Filament = 800 - 200 = 600g
Remaining % = 600 / 1000 x 100 = 60% remaining (600g)
