Burner Fuel Pressure Calculator
Working Backward From Target Flow to Required Pressure
Every valve and fuel train component has a flow coefficient (Cv) that relates flow rate to pressure drop across it. Rearranging that relationship lets you find the supply pressure needed to hit a target flow.
The Formula
Pressure = (Flow / Cv)²
Derived from the standard valve flow equation: Flow = Cv × sqrt(Pressure).
Worked Example
A fuel train needing 12 units of flow through a component with Cv = 4:
Pressure = (12/4)² = 9 (pressure units matching the Cv rating)
