Burner Combustion Air Preheat Savings Calculator
Burner Combustion Air Preheat Savings Calculator
Recuperative and regenerative burners recover waste heat to preheat incoming combustion air - reducing how much fuel has to supply the same total temperature rise from ambient to flame temperature.
The Formula
Savings % = (Tpreheat - Tambient) / (Tflame - Tambient) × 100
Worked Example
Air preheated to 300°C, ambient at 20°C, adiabatic flame temperature 1,900°C:
Savings = (300-20)/(1900-20) × 100 ≈ 14.9%
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the preheated combustion air temperature.
- Enter ambient (unheated) air temperature.
- Enter the fuel's adiabatic flame temperature.
This is a simplified first-pass estimate - real savings also depend on furnace-specific heat transfer and excess air levels.
