The Ceiling a Burner Can Actually Deliver
A burner's capacity is simply its maximum heat release rate — the heat delivered when firing at full rated fuel flow. This is the number that has to match or exceed peak process heat demand.
The Formula
Burner Capacity = (Max Fuel Flow × Heating Value) / 3.6
Worked Example
A burner rated for 20 kg/hr of fuel at 42 MJ/kg:
Capacity = (20 × 42) / 3.6 = 233.3 kW
