Sizing a Burner That Won't Struggle at Peak Load
Sizing a burner to exactly match peak heat demand leaves no margin for equipment aging, heat loss, or future load growth. A safety margin on top of measured peak demand gives realistic headroom.
The Formula
Burner Capacity = Peak Heat Demand × (1 + Safety Factor% / 100)
Worked Example
A process with 200 kW peak demand and a 15% safety factor:
Capacity = 200 × 1.15 = 230 kW
