Fuel Mass Flow Calculator

Converting Metered Volume Into Mass

Fuel meters often read in volume, but mass flow is what actually matters for combustion calculations and mass balances. This calculator converts between the two using fuel density.

The Formula

Mass Flow = Volumetric Flow × Fuel Density

Worked Example

A fuel oil flow of 10 m3/hr at a density of 850 kg/m3:

Mass Flow = 10 × 850 = 8,500 kg/hr

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the Volumetric Flow rate.
  2. Enter the Fuel Density at supply temperature.
  3. Select Calculate to get mass flow.
