Fuel Volume Flow Calculator

Converting Metered Mass Into Volume

Some fuels are metered by weight, but tank sizing, pump selection, and pipeline design are usually specified in volumetric terms. This calculator converts a mass flow into the corresponding volume flow using fuel density.

The Formula

Volume Flow = Mass Flow / Fuel Density

Worked Example

8,500 kg/hr of fuel oil at a density of 850 kg/m3:

Volume Flow = 8,500 / 850 = 10 m3/hr

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the Mass Flow rate.
  2. Enter the Fuel Density at supply temperature.
  3. Select Calculate to get volumetric flow.
