Gas Mixing Calculator
Gas Mixing Calculator: Blend Two Gas Streams Into One
When two gas streams with different flow rates and concentrations merge, whether combustion air blending with recirculated flue gas or two fuel streams combining, the resulting concentration is a flow-weighted average, not a simple average of the two values. This calculator computes that weighted result.
The Formula
Mixed Concentration = (Flow1 × Conc1 + Flow2 × Conc2) / (Flow1 + Flow2)
Worked Example
Stream 1 flows at 50 units/hr with 21% concentration, and Stream 2 flows at 30 units/hr with 15% concentration.
Mixed Concentration = (50 × 21 + 30 × 15) / (50 + 30) = 18.75%
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the flow rate and concentration of the first gas stream.
- Enter the flow rate and concentration of the second gas stream.
- Click Calculate to get the resulting mixed concentration.
