Customs Duty Calculator

Customs Duty Calculator

Importing goods internationally? This calculator estimates the customs duty owed based on your shipment's dutiable value.

Dutiable Value = Declared Value + Shipping/Insurance Cost
Duty Owed = Dutiable Value x (Duty Rate % / 100)

Example

$5,000 declared value, $300 shipping/insurance, 5% duty rate:

Dutiable Value = $5,300.00 → $265.00 estimated duty

Why Shipping and Insurance Are Included

Many countries calculate duty on a "CIF" basis - Cost, Insurance, and Freight combined - rather than just the product's raw declared value, meaning shipping and insurance costs are folded directly into the dutiable base before the duty rate is applied.

Duty Rates Vary Significantly by Product and Origin

The applicable duty rate itself varies considerably by product classification (HS code) and the specific country of origin and destination - always confirm the exact applicable rate with customs authorities or a licensed customs broker before relying on an estimate for actual import planning.
