Why 95% Is a Common Benchmark
On-time delivery performance is one of the most commonly tracked carrier scorecarding metrics - most shippers target a carrier on-time rate of 95% or higher as the threshold for reliable service, using this figure consistently over time to inform carrier selection and contract renewal decisions.
Track This Over Time, Not Just Once
A single snapshot on-time percentage is less useful than tracking this metric consistently across months or quarters - a declining trend, even if the current figure still looks acceptable, is often the earlier and more actionable warning sign of a deteriorating carrier relationship.
