Choose Your Own Divisor When a Carrier's Preset Doesn't Fit
Most parcel carriers publish a standard dimensional weight divisor, but negotiated contracts, regional carriers, and freight forwarders often use their own figure. This calculator lets you plug in any divisor directly, rather than being locked into a fixed carrier preset, so you can check a specific contract term or compare providers that don't use the common 139/166/5000/6000 defaults.
The Formula
Length, width, and height are entered in a consistent unit, and dividing their product by the dimensional factor (the divisor) converts volume into an equivalent weight. If an actual scale weight is also entered, the calculator returns the billable weight as the larger of the two — the figure a carrier will actually invoice.

A lower divisor produces a higher dimensional weight for the same box — always confirm the exact figure in your carrier agreement rather than assuming a default.

- Freight forwarder quotes — forwarders sometimes apply non-standard divisors; entering theirs directly avoids guessing at a preset.
