200 pallets, 12 pallets/hour per worker, 4 workers:

Combined Rate = 48 pallets/hour → ~4.2 hours to cross-dock

Why Schedule Coordination Matters So Much

Cross-docking aims to move freight directly from inbound to outbound trailers with little or no storage time in between - efficient cross-docking depends heavily on inbound and outbound schedules being tightly coordinated, since freight idling while waiting for a mismatched outbound schedule defeats the entire purpose of the process.

Adding Workers Has Diminishing Returns Beyond a Point

While this calculation scales linearly with worker count, physical dock space and equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) eventually become the limiting factor rather than headcount alone - adding workers beyond what the available space and equipment can support won't proportionally speed up actual processing.
