Viral Coefficient Calculator
Viral Coefficient Calculator
Is your content genuinely viral, or just widely seen? This calculator computes the K-factor that determines true self-sustaining growth.
Viral Coefficient (K) = Average Shares Per Viewer x (Conversion Rate of Shares / 100)
Example
2 average shares per viewer, 60% conversion rate of those shares into new viewers:
K = 2.0 x 0.60 = 1.20 - Viral growth
Why K = 1.0 Is the Critical Threshold
A viral coefficient (K) of 1.0 or higher means each existing viewer brings in, on average, at least one additional new viewer - this creates genuinely self-sustaining exponential growth that continues without any further outside promotion.
What Happens Below This Threshold
A K below 1.0 doesn't mean content won't spread at all - it means growth will taper off and eventually plateau without continued new outside promotion (paid ads, algorithmic recommendation, or additional creator posting), since each generation of viewers produces fewer new viewers than the one before it.
