Boiler Superheater Duty Calculator
Boiler Superheater Duty Calculator
Superheating raises steam temperature beyond its saturation point at a given pressure - eliminating moisture carryover and improving downstream turbine efficiency, at the cost of additional heat duty beyond simply generating saturated steam.
Formula: Q = ṁ × cp × ΔT
Example: 5 kg/s of steam, specific heat 2.1 kJ/kgK, superheated by 150K needs 1,575 kW of additional heat duty.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter steam mass flow rate.
- Enter steam specific heat (roughly 2.0-2.2 kJ/kgK in the superheated region).
- Enter the superheat temperature rise above saturation.
