A boiler burner needs more air than the bare stoichiometric requirement to guarantee complete combustion in real-world conditions, where fuel and air never mix perfectly. This calculator computes the actual combustion air supply, factoring in your chosen excess air margin.

The Formula

Total Combustion Air = Fuel Flow × Stoichiometric Air Ratio × (1 + Excess Air% / 100)

Worked Example

A burner consumes fuel at 100 units/hr, the stoichiometric air ratio is 17.2, and the burner runs with 15% excess air.

Total Air = 100 × 17.2 × (1 + 0.15) = 1,978 units/hr
