Carbon Mass Before the CO2 Conversion

Some carbon accounting frameworks track elemental carbon combusted directly, rather than converting immediately to CO2 mass. This calculator gives that raw carbon figure.

The Formula

Carbon Mass = Fuel Mass × Carbon Fraction

Worked Example

1,000 kg of fuel that's 85% carbon:

Carbon Mass = 1,000 × 0.85 = 850 kg
