Given a known fuel flow rate and an engine's overall efficiency, you can directly predict its useful power output. This calculator applies that relationship, folding combustion, thermodynamic, and mechanical losses into a single efficiency figure.
The Formula
Power = Fuel Flow × Heating Value × Efficiency%
Worked Example
An engine burns fuel at 0.006 kg/s with a heating value of 44,000 kJ/kg at 30% overall efficiency.
Power = 0.006 × 44,000 × 0.30 = 79.2 kW
