The Formula

F = P × A, where piston area A = (π/4) × bore²

Worked Example

An 80 bar peak combustion pressure on an 86mm bore piston: piston area ≈ 5,809 mm², giving a peak force of about 46.5 kN - roughly equivalent to the weight of a small car pressing down in that instant.
