Packing Tape Length Calculator

Packing Tape Length Calculator

Don't run out of tape mid-pack. This calculator estimates total tape length and roll count needed based on how many boxes you're sealing.

Total Tape (ft) = (Boxes x Strips Per Box x Strip Length) / 12

Example

40 boxes, 2 strips per box, 24-inch strips:

Total = (40 x 2 x 24) / 12 = 160 ft → ~2.9 standard rolls

Why Two Strips Per Box Is the Standard

Sealing both the top and bottom seams of a box (rather than just the top) is standard moving practice, since bottom seams bear the box's full weight and are prone to splitting open if only lightly taped.

Buy a Little Extra

Rounding up to the next full roll, and buying at least one spare, is a smart practice - running out of tape mid-move with boxes half-sealed is a common and easily avoidable frustration.
